Hello, My name is Crystal and I had parents who made bad choices. Maybe it was because of the drugs. Maybe it was because of the alcohol. Maybe they were stressed because of their job or because they had no job. Whatever the reason, their choices will affect me the rest of my life. It is my mission to prevent child abuse in my community so no other child has to go through what I have gone through. My project started with working with the court system and Pickens Family Partners. But I knew making a real difference involved raising awareness and how others can be involved- not just what I could do. Although this project started with one teen trying to make a difference, it changed to Project T.H.A.N.K.S (Teens Helping Abused and Neglected Kids through Service) with over 40 teens joining my efforts to prevent child abuse.
